George Michael Galloway

George Michael Galloway, age 76, of Asheville, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

He was born in Hendersonville to the late Robert Joseph Galloway and Doris Rice. George worked for WH Authors Roofing and Youngs Roofing. He also was a textile supervisor for LuStar Dyeing and Finishing.

George enjoyed fishing, being a devoted Duke Basketball fan, watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and finding great deals on the clearance aisle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Sherlin.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 56 years and 6 months, Shirley Galloway of Asheville, NC; his children, Teresa Galloway of Arden, NC, Carol Wilson of Greenwood, SC, Dwayne Galloway and wife Amber of O’Brien, FL, and Kerri Wilson and husband Kyle of Hendersonville, NC; his grandchildren, Anderella Hyder and husband Santos, Davis Raines III, Michael Galloway Jr., Wyatt Wilson, and Myrrh Galloway; his great-grandchildren, Gavin, Leia, and Rory; and his dearest friend, Robert Naumann.

A private family gathering will be held to honor George’s memory.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Buncombe County Parks and Recreation, with “To Support Lake Julian” noted in the memo.
